Kashmiris hold demo in London against killings

London—British Kashmiris staged a peaceful demonstration outside the Indian High Commission in London to mark the Kashmir Martyrs’ Day and to register their protest against the killing of peaceful protesters by Indian troops and police in occupied Kashmir.
The participants had come from different towns and cities of the UK. They carried placards reading “Stop killings in Kashmir”,
“Kashmir bleeds and the world looks on” , “UN unfold your preventive diplomacy”, “Stop state terrorism in Kashmir”, Stop indiscriminate killing of men, women, children, old and young” and “Implement UN resolutions in Kashmir”.
The protesters raised forceful slogans against India and in fovour of Kashmiris’ freedom from Indian illegal occupation.
Addressing the protesters, Professor Nazir Ahmed Shawl, the Chief Patron of Kashmir Concern, said that the world needed to acknowledge the seriousness of the situation in occupied Kashmir in which 36 innocent precious lives had been lost and more than hundred people had lost their eyesight and over 1500 people were critically wounded due to the firing of Indian forces on peaceful protesters.
He appealed to the international community to break its silence over the brutalities of Indian police and troops in the occupied territory.
Those who were present in the demonstration included Mrs Shamim Shawl, Raja Eshaq ,Mohammed Ghalib and others.—KMS
