Srinagar—In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC) General Secretary, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, while strongly condemning the RSS Chief, Mohan Bhagwat’s remarks on Kashmir, said that Kashmir had nothing to do with India’s “Hindu Rashtra” (Hindu country) ideology.
Bhagwat on Sunday said that India was “Hindu Rashtra” and “there is no place for separatism in the country”. Shabbir Ahmad Shah in a statement issued in Srinagar said Mohan Bhagwat can say anything regarding India but “Jammu and Kashmir has its own identity and has never been part of India”. He said RSS chief “should bear in mind that there is no separatism in Jammu Kashmir but a freedom movement continuing since decades”.
He said, “Mohan Bhagwat should go through the political history of Jammu Kashmir. He should know that on October 27, 1947, India annexed this territory through military invasion and then took the issue to United Nations besides promised to give the people of this land the right to decide their future.
He said despite passing of 70 years, India hasn’t fulfilled its promise and the people of this State continue to offer sacrifices of their lives to liberate their nation from Indian occupation. By offering sacrifices of about 6 lakh human lives, the people of Jammu Kashmir have created a history.”
He also termed ridiculous the RSS chief’s remark that government should deal sternly with resistance leaders, saying India and its local collaborators haven’t left any stone unturned in this regard.—KMS
