Karachi’s heatwave

Naz Gul Faiz

The tragedy of heat wave last year devoured approximately 1,300 people due to the inefficiency and sluggishness of the Provincial government, which failed to provide satisfactory arrangement. The biggest reasons behind those deaths in the last year were unawareness, power breakdown and inadequate health facilities. This time around the heatstroke has started its domination in the city, which has hitherto sent three people to the valley of death.
The extreme weather is another major reason behind it. According to the weather forecast, the temperature may reach to alarming level above 40 Celsius. The government has to take solid steps to ensure safety – running an awareness campaign among public. The government needs to be very specific and tagetted in this regard.
