Kangaroos whitewash Pak

OVER the last decade or so, our national cricket team has always struggled against quality teams and the five one day international series with Australia at the UAE grounds proved to be no different as the Kangaroos completed a 5-0 whitewash over Pakistan with a clinical 2- run win in the fifth and final one day international in Dubai on Sunday.
The performance of national cricket team remained dismal in all the fields be it the batting or bowling. We often boast of having one of the best bowling attacks in the world but none of our bowlers in the series left any impact as they appeared to be totally hapless against the quality Australian batters. Though most of our players were rested for this series in order to give a chance to new blood and prepare a team for the upcoming world cup, the decision however backfired and we understand the outcome would not have been that different even if we have pitched a full strong team against the Australians. We say so given the past track record. The latest series was Australians sixth successive series win over Pakistan since losing in 2002 and their fourth whitewash against us. Apart from a few isolated good performances, our team has always struggled against teams such as Australia, England and South Africa. One of the main reasons that we have failed to build up a strong team is the fact that we always go back to failed and tried players. The same happened in the UAE series where we once again gave another chance to likes of Umer Akmal who once again failed to deliver. Under Ehsan Mani, we expect the PCB move forward in the direction that revives the old glory of our team. Before the World Cup, Pakistan will play the series against England and we expect that the selection team will send the team that will then be playing the World Cup as it will help the players to get accustomed to the conditions on the English pitches. With the right combination and a well thought out game plan, our team under Sarfraz can repeat the magic of Champions Trophy in the World Cup.
