Karachi—To curb electricity theft and reduce losses, K-Electric’s team conducted its anti-theft raids in Korangi where illegal connections being used by commercial customers were removed. A spokesman of the KE said on Tuesday that the utility disconnected over 160 connections which included connections of commercial defaulters. He further pointed out that the KE teams conducted a ‘kunda’ removal operation in Raza market of Korangi. Hook connections weighing 230 kg were successfully removed by the team whereas penalty notices were served to defaulters. The dues in the areas stand at more than Rs. 1.2 million. According to KE spokesperson the area was infested with illegal wiring and theft, also causing faults and tripping in adjoining areas. He was of the view that this drive will enable the provision of reliable power supply to the residents and also help enhance load management in surrounding areas due to reduced losses.
