The disconnection of power supply to children schools in the scorching heat of summer is something inhuman on the part of K Electric while gross negligence by the Education Ministry or Department in Karachi. According to details 1,457 schools owe more than PKR 202 million to the power utility and these dues have been pending since some time.
Despite several notices complete payments have not been made. K-Electric has issued another letter to the Director School & Education regarding non-payment of dues pending on Government Schools’ end.
KE has disconnected the power supply of 224 schools having dues of over PKR 130 million and in a letter sent last month to Director Schools and Education, the power utility appealed to the management to ensure payments so that the students do not face any difficulty during examinations. K-Electric spokesperson has requested Authorities to ensure these payments for the betterment of students and the education system.
