Chief JUI-F Maulana Fazlur Rehman Monday said JUI-F was a party which played an active role in forming the government at the federal level due to its grasp of political issues. Addressing an Ulema conference at Mewa Khel, the JUIF leader said, the party did adopt unified stances on major political issues, both in the parliament and outside.
He said the JUI-F confronted many problems but it is blamed of being soft on specific issues at the centre. It is evident that JUI-F took all issues seriously, he added. The JUIF, he pointed out, succeeded in getting approval of Women Rights Bill from the Punjab Assembly despite representation of only one member in the house. He recalled certain elements wanted to enact legislation in the name of Halal Food but the party worked out to highlight difference between ‘Halal and Haram’.
It was due to Ulema that Halal foods are available here, he added. On FATA merger, JUI-F chief said that its fate should be decided in accordance with the aspirations of the tribal people by taking them on board. “Fata belongs to tribesmen and we are with tribal jirga” , he added. He said consent of the tribal people must be sought while taking any decision viz a viz its merger with KP or making it separate province.—APP
