Judicial Commission best solution to probe Panama Papers: Lawyers, politicians

Peshawar—Senior lawyers and politicians here Wednesday termed judicial commission was a best solution to probe the panama papers and hoped that all respondents and petitioners would cooperate with the commission to settle issue once for all.
Esa Khan, senior lawyer and former Advocate General Khyber Pakthunkhwa told APP that the consensus on judicial commission was a positive development and it would be a right platform to probe the case.
He said the Supreme Court would be in a right position to pass a judgment on Panama papers after recommendations by the Commission, adding the decision of the court was binding on all the parties including the government and opposition to accept its verdict.
He however said a timeframe should be set for investigation of the issue. The senior lawyer said the Supreme Court could finalize Terms of
Reference (ToRs) if consensus was not reached among rival parties and suggested for concise ToRs for speedy investigation into the case. He said the commission could summon any person or institution for assistance.
Peshawar High Court Bar Association (PHCBA) General Secretary Yousaf Ali Khan said in prevailing circumstances, the Judicial Commission was the best solution to probe Panama papers.
He said consensus among all parties over formation of judicial commission was a positive development. Yousaf said everyone should have complete trust in the Commission as it would be under the superior judiciary and could seek the assistance of every department/investigation body.
To a question, he said it would be good that all the parties should agree on ToRs otherwise the Supreme Court had the power to finalize ToRs by itself. Sardar Aurganzaib Nalota, Parliamentary Secretary of PML-N in KP .—APP
