Jhagra for supervising repatriation of TDPs


Peshawar—The repatriation process of Temporarily Displaced Persons (TDPs) to Orakzai Agency will start from April 21, on directives of the Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Engr. Iqbal Zafar Jhagra. Whereas repatriation process of TDPs from Kurram and North Waziristan agency has been started on April 20.
The Governor was personally supervising the return process. All arrangements for return of TDPs to Kurram, North and Orakzai Agencies have been completed and overall 49,553 displaced famalies would be sent back to their native homes in this phase and it would be completed till the month of June. To facilitate the female returnees, separate desks have been established for their smooth registration.
Each verified family will receive compensation peckage of Rs 35,000 as cash assistance including Rs. 10,000 as transportation grant and food peckage for six-months. The Governor directed the relevant officials to use all available resources for their assistance, rehabilitation and expeditious resettlement adding that no laxity will be tolerated in this regard. He further directed that all out efforts should be made to ensure immediate and dignified return and rehabilitation of TDPs to their native homes.
He asked the officials concerned that problems of TDPs should be resolved on priority basis and said that provision of basic facilities to the displaced persons should be ensured at any cost. Governor Iqbal zafar Jhagra said that dignified return and rehabilitation of temporarily displaced persons (TDPs) was the top priority of the government and reiterated the commitment of the incumbent Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Mohammad Nawaz Sharif to ensure the successful and expeditious rehabilitation and return of TDPs.
The Governor said that tribesmen had rendered great sacrifices for the peace of entire region and now time has come to take concrete measures for the dignified return and rehabilitation of tribal people and to redress their grievances on priority.—APP
