It’s your day today..!

It’s your day today! Yes, today is May 1st, labour day; your day, my day, our day! A day to rejoice, to be joyful and grateful for the work we have everyday! There are many who do not work! No, I am not speaking of the unemployed, but those who are so rich, that they do not have to work anymore! Their fathers or grandfathers have made enough money to keep them idle and unoccupied! Quite often, we envy them! “How nice it is,” we say “to do nothing!” “How wonderful to look at the sea or mountains all day!” To all of you who think so, let us go over and talk to these people, “Sir! Are you happy with the time you have, doing nothing?” we ask these same people who are sitting on easy chairs gazing at the ocean, “Madam are you happy?”
They turn to you with eyes of boredom and minds full of depression, “What do you do all day?” they ask us and turn back to looking at the hills or the sea.
“We work!” we tell them. “You are so lucky!” say these same bored people, “To have your hours and days filled with something constructive! To solve problems, to face challenges, to excel in your job, how lucky you are!” They look at us enviously as we walk away puzzled. But it’s true, if you are still working, then today is your day to celebrate your work! Jump with glee! Shout with joy! Wish your other worker friends!
If you have hands that are calloused and wrinkled with physical labour, remember they are stronger and have made you stronger than the weak soft hands of the person who has no work! If you have a mind that has to think of strategy, solve problems, meet challenges of your company or corporate everyday; remember it’s a mind that even if you are old, is still young! Because the more work you do, the younger you remain. If you don’t believe me, look at our old politicians; while our fathers and mothers lie in bed when they are eighty plus, these politicians remain young and active! Have a look at their work schedule, it’s very heavy and long, but they love it, and life loves them!
Yes, today is May 1st, labour day; your day, my day, our day! A day to rejoice, to be joyful and grateful for the work we have everyday..!
