Punajb Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that time has come to show the world that the people of Pakistan are up and going, united, hand-in-hand and committed to protecting and preserving the idea called Pakistan.
The chief minister took to Twitter and posted pictures of arrangements for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) final, being held at Gaddafi Stadium on March 5.
The CM posted: “Looking forward to welcome you in Lahore.”
In a message on Facebook, the CM said that cricket was not just a sport but it showed nation’s resilience to bounce back after every tragedy.
Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said on Friday that peaceful environment would be ensured during the final match of PSL and for this purpose, best security arrangements had been put in place.
The Chief Minister expressed these remarks during a meeting with Deputy Chief of Mission of US Embassy, Jonathan Pratt who called him on here.
In the meeting, matters of mutual interest, promotion of bilateral ties and enhancement of cooperation in various sectors were also discussed.
US embassy chief of mission praised the decision to hold the final match of PSL in Lahore and called it the best step.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that final match of PSL was the mega event and decision to hold it in Lahore was taken after consulting all institutions.
Shahbaz Sharif said that Pakistani nation had strong determination to eliminate terrorism and holding of final match of PSL was a strong message to terrorists that there was no room for extremist mindset in Pakistan.
He said the nation had given unprecedented sacrifices in the war against terrorism. He said multidimensional bilateral ties existed between Pakistan and USA, and it was hoped that these relations would strengthen in future.
The CM said: “We are determined to make Pakistan a welfare state in line with the vision of the Quaid-e-Azam.”
US Consul General in Lahore Yuriy Fedkiw was also present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, Chairman, Pakistan Super League, Najam Sathi said on Friday that cricket returns to its original home in Pakistan when the final of the Pakistan Super League will be played on March 5 at the famous Gadaffi stadium.
“This arena (Gadaffi stadium) has its own history and status around the globe as Pakistan’s only cricket stadium which has hosted record number of games in all formats of the game”, he told media persons. Sathi said it is a history making moment that Gadaffi stadium will be hub of a major cricket activity by hosting the PSL final and it will be delightful moment to see the return of cricket to its home.
