Italy to help reconstruct damaged infrastructure

Chitral—The Ambassador of Italy on Friday wrote a letter to the Foreign Office affirming willingness of Italian government to support the rebuilding of the disaster-affected infrastructure in Chitral. The letter said that the decision to reconstruct the infrastructure was taken after a request received from Chief Minister of KP. It is pertinent to mention that a delegation of Italian Aid, led by Director Domenico Bruzzone, had visited Chitral and held detailed meetings with Deputy Commissioner Osama Warraich and visited the disaster-hit areas in various parts of the valley. After the visit, a series of correspondence took place between the DC office and the Italian embassy in Islamabad.
‘We are honoured and hope to continue playing our role towards the development of Chitral and hope we are able to reduce miseries of the people affected by the twin disasters of floods and earthquake in 2015,’ said the DC office.
The letter added that the Italian embassy would like to stress the importance of orienting Italy’s assistance project-cycle to provide financial support to the above case, addressing resources still available in the soft loan provided by Italy for humanitarian assistance in Pakistan amounting to 27.75,00 million Euros after Italy’s contribution of 30m Euros.
