Islamic Organization for food security next week in Kazakhstan

Jeddah (Ksa)—The OIC Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS) will start its work officially next week with the 1st session of its founding General Assembly in Astana, capital city of Kazakhstan, on 26-28 April 2016, in parallel to the 7th Islamic Ministerial Conference on Food Security and Agricultural Development in OIC Member States. The Ministerial Conference will discuss the outcomes of the works of the General Assembly of the newly-established food security organization and make decisions thereon.
The founding General Assembly will be opened by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Karim Massimov. OIC Secretary General, Iyad Ameen Madani, and President of the Islamic Development Group (IDBG), Dr. Ahmad Mohammad Ali, will address the opening ceremony.
The agenda includes the election of the president and vice-presidents of the IOFS General Assembly, the election of the presidents and members of the Executive Board, the election of the Director General of IOFS Secretariat, the signing ceremony of IOFS Statute and the Headquarters Agreement between the Government of Kazakhstan and the IOFS.
The founding General Assembly will consider IOFS budget for the period 2016-2018, the rules of procedure, the financial regulations, the personnel regulations and the IOFS’ five-year action plan.—Email
