Islamabad, KP White gain victories in Jr U-20 Hockey

Peshawar—Islamabad and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa White recorded victories against their respective rivals in the ongoing National Junior Under-20 Boys Hockey Championship being played here at Lala Ayub Hockey Stadium on Friday.
Former World Champion Qamar Zaman was the chief guest on this occasion and before the start of the matches the players of all the four teams were introduced to him. Secretary KP Hockey Association Syed Zahir Shah, Tournament Director Olympian Musaddiq Hussain, officials and players were also present on this occasion and witnessed the matches.
In the first match Islamabad defeated Gilgit-Baltistan by 6-0 in a thrilling. Hamza of Islamabad was the pick of the pack who slammed in a beautiful hat-trick by scoring three consecutive goals on the field attempts in the 24th minute, 37th minute and 42nd minute.
Islamabad got good start of taking the lead in the 7th minute when right winger Naseer netted a superb goal on the field attempt, followed by three consecutive goals scored by center forward Hamza.
Islamabad was leading by 3-0 at half-time and scored three more goals in the second session through skipper Hamza in the 42nd minute while skipper Usman, the inside right, slammed in two more goals in the 44 and 51st minute to make the tally 6-0. Gilgit-Baltistan tried their hard to reduce the margin but due to pack defence of Islamabad they forwards were failed to score any goal.
In the second match Khyber Pakhtunkhwa White defeated FATA by 7-0. Full-back Zahid Khan scored three consecutive goals on the penalty corners in the 11th, 17 and 23th minute to make the tally 3-0 well before the half-time. This was Munir Khan and Khair Ullah who scored two goals each to make the tally 7-0.—APP
