Islam stresses special persons’ proper care, rehab: Shehbaz

Lahore—Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif laid the foundation stone of Teachers’ Training Institute (TTI) for Special Education at PAF Base, Sarwar Road Lahore Cantt on Tuesday. Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman, Provincial Minister for Special Education Asif Manhais and senior officers of Pak Air Force were present on the occasion.
Addressing the ceremony, the Chief Minister said that commitment and efforts of Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman for this project are commendable. He said that Punjab government provided funds for the construction of the institute and will continue to provide assistance for this purpose.
He said that special children could be made useful members of the society through providing them modern facilities of education and training. He said that it is the responsibility of the welltodo persons to take an active part in this project.
Shehbaz Sharif said that it is also responsibility of Punjab government to take steps for the rehabilitation and look after besides education and training of special children and it will continue to discharge its obligation in this regard. He said that Islam has also stressed the need for rehabilitation and proper care of special persons.
He said that those who have been given resources and ability by Allah Almighty should contribute towards this cause. He said that it is the need of the hour to modernize education system as well as promote technical, vocational and skill development. He said that Punjab government has introduced a new model for the promotion of technical education.
He said that funds of billions of rupees are being spent for developing a skilled workforce. He said government is promoting vocational training through TEVTA, PVTC and Skill Development Company. The Chief Minister said that instead of spending money on buildings, Punjab government has made investment of billions of rupees in youth, as it is the only way to take Pakistan forward.
He said that 60 percent population of Pakistan comprise youth between the age of 15 to 30 years and the aim of progress and prosperity of the country can be achieved through their empowerment. He said that there is a need to turn the challenge of empowerment of youth into opportunities. Shehbaz Sharif said that teachers’ training is of vital importance with regard to promotion of quality education.
He said that it is very important to pay attention to teachers’ training for education and training of special children. He said that teachers’ training institute at PAF Base, Sarwar Road will play an important role in the training of teachers.
He said that it augurs well that five hundred teachers of Punjab government will also get training at this institute. He said that Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman has taken up this noble task and establishment of teachers’ training institute for look after and training of special children is an important step.
He said that those who are taking part in this task are earning the blessings of Allah. He said that he is happy that training of teachers has been started temporary at this institute.
