Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that ISI is our first line of defense and stands out as best intelligence agency of the world. He made the remarks during his visit to the ISI headquarters here on Wednesday.
The PM lauded contributions of the intelligence agency towards national security especially in the ongoing counter terrorism effort. He said the government and people of Pakistan firmly stand behind their armed forces and intelligence agencies, and greatly acknowledge the unprecedented achievements of these institutions.
Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa and DG ISI Lt General Naveed Mukhtar received the prime minister on arrival at the ISI headquarters. The PM laid floral wreath at the monument of martyrs and offered fateha. The prime minister was also briefed in details on various strategic intelligence and national security matters at the premier agency. Lead cabinet members also accompanied by the Prime Minister.
After assuming office, the prime minister also paid a visit to the general headquarters Rawalpindi where he was given a detailed briefing on national security matters and assured that the government would provide all resources required to maintain the capability and capacity of the Army.
