Sindh Irrigation Minister Ishwar Lal called on Governor Muhammad Kamran Khan Tessori at governor house here on Friday. Improvement of canal system of the province, availability of water for various crops, problems of tail settlers and other related issues were discussed in the meeting. Governor Sindh said that agriculture is the backbone of the country’s economy, adding that better distribution of canal water can increase the production of crops, adding that the work of strengthening canal water branches should be expedited.
Tessori said that effective measures are necessary to save water from being wasted, Governor said that alternative methods of irrigation should also be used for crops. Minister Ishwar Lal also briefed the Governor on various steps taken by the department.
