Irfan Siddiqui directs revival of Allama Iqbal Presidential Awards

Adviser to Prime Minister on National History and Literary Heritage (NH&LH), Irfan Siddiqui has directed the management of the Iqbal Academy Pakistan (IAP) to revive the prestigious Allama Iqbal Presidential Awards.
In this regard the Academy has been directed to prepare a summary for reviewing the amount of cash prize as well as the specifications of gold medals of annual Allama Iqbal Presidential Awards.
It will also endevour on other matters like weight, inscription etc.
It would be submitted before Prime Minister, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi for final approval of the suggestion.
. He was presiding over the 50th meeting of Governing Body of Iqbal Academy Pakistan (IAP) held here at Division’ premises, on Tuesday.
Irfan Siddiqui directed the academy’ officials to immediately revive the process of conferment of Presidential Allama Iqbal Awards which was stopped for the last five years.
He directed the officials to remove procedural hurdles.
The hurdles came after 18th amendment of the constitution and revive the process of awarding those who have rendered great contributions in educating the younger generations about the philosophy and vision of Allama Muhammad Iqbal, the poet of the East.
Irfan Siddiqui expressed disappointment over suspension of Allama Iqbal awards for such a long period.
He hoped revival of this initiative will boost the morale of those scholars who have contributed in this cause.
The Governing Body members also decided to hold National Conference on Allama Iqbal.
They said scholars from different countries will present their research articles on Iqbal.
The conference is likely to be held in early next year at Lahore.
The body also formed an organizing committee for arrangements of this conference.
