Islamabad—Iran’s Siamand Rahman broke the men’s over 107kg world record once again in Dubai, UAE at IPC Powerlifting World Cup.
Paralympic and world champion Rahman won the gold medal, lifting 296kg to set a new world record in the men’s over 107kg, IRNA reported Saturday.
It is the ninth time the Iranian sportsman has broken the world record which means he remains on course to reach his goal of 300kg.
Rahman is expected to attempt the feat at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.
On his 2016 debut, he put in two good lifts of 275kg and 286kg before adding 1kg onto his previous best of 295kg.
Iran’s Majid Farzin at the men’s up to 80kg and Hamed Solhipour in men’s up to 88kg had already claimed two gold medals for Iran.—APP
