President of Iran Hassan Rouhani has expressed optimism that the relations between his country and Saudi Arabia are well on the mend. “I have instructed my government to normalize ties with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and I expect positive outcome”, he answered a question from Pakistan Observer on telephone from Tehran on Friday morning.
President Rouhani’s tone was upbeat; we want to have good working relations with the Islamic fraternity throughout the world as its part, he explained.
Relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia got soured in the recent past over geo-constraints. But now diplomatic overtures are active to bring back the ties back on operative track and brinkmanship.
Iran is the most important member of the 57-member state Organization of Islamic Cooperation and one of the founding members of this global organization second to the United Nations in terms of number of participating countries.
President Hassan Rouhani’s recent visit to Pakistan was successful helped deepen Islamabad-Tehran friendship and brotherhood. Iran supports Pakistan’s national standpoint on Kashmir dispute.
