In occupied Kashmir, the High Court has quashed the illegal detention of ailing All Parties Hurriyat Conference leader, Ghulam Muhammad Khan Sopori, under draconian law, Public Safety Act (PSA), and directed the puppet authorities to release him forthwith.
The case of Ghulam Muhammad Khan Sopori was heard by the High Court judge, Justice Muhammad Yaqoob Mir. Prominent lawyer, Mir Shafqat Hussain, pleaded the case on behalf of the APHC leader. The judge, after hearing the arguments, quashed the PSA detention of Ghulam Muhammad Khan Sopori and directed the authorities to release him.
It is to be mentioned that Indian police had arrested Ghulam Muhammad Khan Sopori on February 15 from Sopore during a condolence session held in connection with the 42nd martyrdom anniversary of noted freedom leader, Ghulam Muhammad Bulla, and lodged him at Police Station, Sopore. Later he was booked under PSA and was lodged at Kot Bhalwal Jail in Jammu.—KMS
