Int’l Day to counter sexual abuse

Sana Khan

The United Nations has declared 19th June as the Elimination of Sexual Violence Day, to highlight abuses and violence perpetrated to women. Unfortunately the Day is totally misused and violence against women remains endemic, despite the entire world’s advance technology, science, society and economic. One out of three women around the world is being the victim of gender-based violence, domestic violence, sexual assault and rape, sexual harassment, honour killing and many others.
These crimes are taking place in million homes, workplaces, streets, villages and cities in every part of the globe. It is called the worst crime against humanity, happening across the nations, cultures, classes and religions. The UN has totally failed to control such cases. For it, UN needs to raise awareness to eliminate sexual abuse and domestic violence.
