Int’l Committee of Red Cross invites entries for Humanitarian Reporting Award

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and Centre for Excellence in Journalism at Institute of Business Administration has invited entries for the inaugural Humanitarian Reporting Award.
According to a CEC-IBA announcement, intending contestants from across the country can submit their entries by September 16 after filling in the form, available on website (cej.iba.edu.pk).
The award focused on work produced in the field of humanitarian reporting, including but not limited to violence against healthcare, disaster reporting, issues related to people with disabilities, disaster response and preparedness etc.
The award is open to all journalists irrespective of their affiliation or employer while content would be judged for its originality and quality of work. Series of articles on humanitarian issues will be given special consideration.
Stories done by reporters are to be accorded priority while the award itself will be offered in three categories including Mainstream Broadcast (Urdu); Mainstream Print & Online (Urdu) and Mainstream Print & Online (English).
Winners for each category will be awarded Rs.100,000 while runner-ups will received Rs.80,000/-
To qualify for the award, submitted work must have been used in mainstream media or a district correspondent. Where a byline is not given, the onus would rest on applicant to prove that it is his or her work.
Articles can be nominated or submitted. In case of nomination, a media house, a media person or a third person can nominate an article/package/series for consideration. If short listed CEJ will approach the reporter for their consent of inclusion in the competition.Reporters and editors can also submit their entries directly.The award is open to all journalists irrespective of their affiliation or employer while content would be judged for its originality and quality of work. Intending participants have been advised to send stories/packages that they have done on humanitarian issues produced from November 10, 2017 to September 16, 2018. There were said to be three awardee (one in each category) and three runners-up (one in each category).
A select panel of judges will review the entries and announce their decision by September 28 followed by award ceremony on October 18—APP
