Institute to be set up to treat infertility

Karachi—Sindh Governor Dr.Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan has said that an institute would be established in public sector to treat married couples for various signs of infertility and resolve their problems regarding capability of reproduction.
The Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) would soon take steps in this regard. This he said while addressing a gathering arranged by Australian Infertility Medical Centre for the couples treated at the centre, and their children.
Ebad said that there are new advancements and findings in every field due to the development of Science and Technology which also include biological sciences.
The IVF treatment procedure has been of paramount success for the infertile couples and millions of people have benefited worldwide from this procedure, he added.
He further stated that thousands have also adopted this procedure in Pakistan to have babies. There was an urgent need to follow and adopt the latest research in the field of chromosomal analysis and embryological development, he observed.
The Governor said, “Our society often makes jokes of the couples who don’t conceive even only after a year of marriage and this situation creates misunderstandings and rifts between families which is very unfortunate.”
Proper and timely diagnosis can ensure treatment of even the most complicated diseases while efforts for eradicating causes responsible for spread of diseases must be taken urgently.
He commended the efforts of Australian Infertility Medical Centre for helping in delivery of more than 8,000 babies in Pakistan since its establishment.
Senior Minster Nisar Khuhro and Prof. Masood Hameed also spoke on the occasion while CEO of the centre Dr. Sajjad Hussain informed about the IVF treatment procedure and facilities provided at his centre in detail. Later the Governor distributed gifts amongst children born after treatment at the centre.—APP
