Indian forces gag GK, RK Dailies, arrest staff, seize copies

Pakistan/AJK media associations condemn this heinous act

Srinagar—In utter desperation the Indian forces on Saturday midnight gagged the Greater Kashmir and Rising KashmirDailies by raiding their offices at in the city outskirts. Police arrested the Greater Kashmir and Rising Kashmir Printing Press foreman Biju Chaudary and two other employees. The Policemen seized the plates of Greater Kashmir and of Rising Kashmir and more than 50,000 printed copies of Kashmir Uzma and closed down the GKC printing press.
Cops misbehaved with the employees present there and snatched their cell phones. The employees who tried to resist were beaten up by the policemen. More than 20 policemen barged into GK printing Press and directed the employees to stop printing the newspaper. Within no time they stopped the machines and pulled out the plates. Pakistani journalists and media managers vehemently condemned this dastardly act of Indian forces to stifle the voice of the media to cover up their heinous anti-Kashmiris acts. Muzaffarabad based Kashmir media also condemned the gagging of Greater Kashmir in Srinagar and appealed to the world media assocation to condemn this criminal action of Indian forces.—Agencies
