While most of the Sri Lankan players were watching India’s innings and enjoying Virat Kohli’s batting on TV in their hotel rooms in Bristol, Sri Lankan fast bowler had to rush to Bristol Royal Hospital for his finger injury, which he got during net practice session in the morning.
“There is no fracture but it is a dislocation”, the team manager, Ashantha De Mel, speaking exclusively over telephone from Bristol said.
“At this point, we are not seeking any replacement but will wait for his recovery. He is on an anti-biotics He is unlikely to be available for the next match against Bangladesh (on Tuesday) but will be alright within a week”, the manager and chief selector, added further.
Sri Lanka’s next match (after Bangladesh) will be against Australia on June 15, and the team management will seek further updates on his recovery.
At present, no replacement is sought. The 33-year-old Nuwan Pradeep was accompanied by De Mel and the team physio to the hospital and there he was treated by an Indian doctor, it is learnt here.
Wives and family members of few Sri Lankan players have already joined the squad. However, there is none from Nuwan Pradeep’s family, it is also learnt here.
