India using assembly to dilute Kashmir dispute

Srinagar

The member of so-called Kashmir Assembly and Awami Ittehad Party Chairman, Engineer Abdur Rasheed has said that the developments in the Assembly have proved that the House is being controlled by “secret hands”, a reference to Hindu extremist parties Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and Bharatiya Janata Party as wells as Indian secret agencies.
As soon as the Assembly proceedings began, Engineer Rasheed said that the drama over Mehbooba Mufti’s pro-Article 370 remarks should be seen in the context what had been happening in the Assembly since long. He said, “New Delhi is using the Kashmir Assembly to create a situation that gives a notion as if Kashmir dispute is only about protecting Article 370 and people of Kashmir need or deserve nothing beyond that.”
“While National Conference and Congress have every right to make hue and cry over Speaker’s role and take to streets in secretariat premises, but they need to answer how then Speaker had shamefully disgraced the House by sabotaging resolution seeking clemency for Afzal Guru,” Engineer Rasheed said. He added that the foundation of unconstitutional proceedings and episodes has been laid by none other than NC and Congress in the past and all the major parties are doing politics of convenience that suits to their vested political agenda.—KMS
