India, Afghanistan withdraw from cricket tournament

Islamabad—India and Afghanistan Disabled Cricket Team have withdrawn from the forthcoming Physical Disability Cricket Tournament-2016, scheduled to be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from October 20 to 25.
According to Amir Uddin Ansari Hon. Secretary Pakistan Disabled Cricket Association (PDCA), an email was received to him from the Head of ECB Disability Cricket Manager Ian Martin in which he informed that his Indian and Afghanistan counterparts both have stated financial problems as the reason for their withdrawal from the tournament.
“Indian Disabled Cricket Team former Captain Ajit Wadekar and Head of Afghanistan Disabled Cricket Team Dr. Abdul Mannan Masood both have stated financial problems as the reason for their withdrawal,” he said. Now as per the revised schedule as many as three teams will participate in the tournament, including England, Bangladesh and Pakistan.
Matches will be played on double league basis, after that to top teams will qualify for the final. The event matches will be played in Sharjah and Dubai Pakistan Disabled Cricket Team will leave for Dubai on October 18.—APP
