Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh, the former bureaucrat turned politician and former MPA, and his son Faraz Imtiaz Shaikh have been handed over to police for two days in police custody by 6th Civil Judge Abdul Lateef Dahani, here on Thursday.
Ghulam Murtaza Mirani, the concerned police officer at New Faujdari Police Station, told this correspondent that an FIR [67/2018], on the behalf of state, had been lodged on intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday against Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh, Pakistan People’s Party [PPP] contesting candidate for PS-07 Shikarpur-1 and his real son Faraz Imtiaz Shaikh under section 324, 148, 149, 337H/2 at New Faujdari Police Station and both, Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh and his son Faraz Imtiaz Shaikh, were produced before honorable court on Thursday morning for further proceedings while both have been handed over to police for two days police remand, Mirani added.
Speaking to the newsmen at district and Sessions Court Shikarpur, Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh, newly elected in general elections, said that this is politicised case against me and my son and would be dealt through legal manner. It is worthwhile to mention here that an incident of firing took place in front of District Council Shikarpur where voting process was underway during the firing a few persons including a Brohi clan youth identified as Mir Hassan Brohi sustained bullet wounds and he was immediately referred to Sukkur hospital after providing medical attention at Civil Hospital Shikarpur, following on the firing incident Armed forced took Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh and Agha Taimoor, the GDA candidate, into their protective custody to calm down the situation.
Later, Agha Taimoor Khan Pathan, GDA’s ticket holder candidate, released by Armed forces after lapse of some span of time. The circumstances’ of Brohi and Shaikh community persons were already tense in Shikarpur when a youngster son of advocate Shahnawaz Khan Brohi was shot dead over trivial issue and in this regard a case has also been lodged against nephew of Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh and his other accomplices at New Faujdari Police Station by Brohi tribesmen.
