Peshawar—Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf Imran Khan has called upon the Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif to step down as according to him he has lost the moral legitimacy to remain the Prime Minister.
“Mian Nawaz Sharif should either resign or present himself for accountability as he has no moral grounds to rule the country any longer. The PTI Supremo reiterated while talking to newsmen after inaugurating the state of the art Hayatabad Sports Complex here Wednesday afternoon.
“That is the reason we did not participate in the joint session of the parliament convened on Wednesday”. Imran said in a bid to justify his party’s decision to boycott the joint session adding he stood by his decision not to attend the session as nothing new will be achieved that was not achieved with PTI’s active participation in APC convened a couple of days back.
The PTI Chairman, whose party is heading a coalition government in the Khyber Pukhtunkhwa province, observed that Nawaz Sharif has convened the joint sitting of the parliament to save himself from Panama probe. “There was otherwise no need to call the joint session of the parliament”. He said.
“I stand by decision to boycott Joint Session. Nawaz Sharif is involved in money laundering , Panama Papers scandal, tax evading & hiding of assets, thus he has lost moral legitimacy to be a Prime Minister; I want to ask as to how could any politician with a moral compass can accept a PM who has been caught money laundering in Panama Papers”, charged Imran questioned and maintained that going to the parliament means lending legitimacy to Mian Nawaz Sharif
The PTI chairman said that the Prime Minister has only two options now as other democratic Prime Ministers had opted after Panama leaks; one is to go the Cameron route presenting himself for accountability or to resign like Prime Minister of the Iceland did.
