IIUI all set to hold 10th convocation

Islamabad—The International Islamic University (IIU) is set to hold its 10th annual convocation and a number of activities and announcements were made on this occasion besides decorating its passing out graduates.
A newly constructed faculty block for Engineering students and a new faculty named “Faculty of Computing” will be inaugurated on the occasion of International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) 10th convocation in which as many as 11,644 students will be conferred degrees.
This was told by IIU President, Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh on Thursday while briefing the media persons about the 10th convocation of varsity.
A Centre for Islam and Global Media will also be inaugurated by IIU ProChancellor Prof. Dr. Sulaiman Abdullah Aba Al-Khail who is specially participating in the convocation, the IIU President said.
“After conferring degrees to the 11,644 students in 10th mega event of the varsity, a total number of graduated students in all convocations will reach to 38,002” Dr. Al-Draiweesh furthered. He added that 5,620 male students and 6,024 female students will get their degrees in the IIU 10th convocation. He said that a total number of 110 PhDs will be conferred degrees in this event, while number of foreign graduated students at IIU in the 10th convocation will be 629.
The IIU President said that university is providing quality education to its students integrated with teachings of Islam since 36 years.
He added that varsity has been nurturing the minds for more than three decades in the light of Islamic teachings and students being taught to adopt Islam’s message of peace and discourage the attitudes of violence and sectarianism.
Responding to questions of the journalists, Dr. Al-Draiweesh told that IIU’s top most priority is establishment of a medical faculty and efforts are in full swing to make it possible in minimum time.
He also told about the academic linkages of IIU with the national and international education institutions while adding that university in collaboration with various institutions has arranged number of dialogues, seminar and conferences for the dissemination of peace and tranquility.
