Safe City CCTV cameras help rescuers spot the point
Islamabad—A speedy bus of the International Islamic University (IIU) met an accident while it was taking girls students to the university here Wednesday morning. It was near Sector G-11 signal along the Kashmir Highway when the driver of the university bus no. 20 could not control the speedy vehicle and it hit a motorcyclist and a traffic pole. The motorcyclist died on the spot while due to the severity of the collision the windscreen of the bus was smashed into pieces. A number of students fell out of the windscreen and were severely injured.
Safe City Monitoring teams that was watching the incident through Close Circuit TV cameras immediately spotted the area and called the police and rescue teams to rush to the site and start rescue operation. This is the first major incident that was monitored and promptly reported to the capital’s CDA and other rescue departments by the Safe City personnel.
Later, the rescue teams carried out the operation and shifted the body of the deceased and the injured to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS). IIU Rector and President and other staff and students and reached the hospital to enquire about the health of the injured. Later the injured were relieved from the hospital after treatment.
According to the initial report of the police and rescue officials, the ill-fated bus was carrying more than 50 students of IIUI that met the accident due to over speeding.
