IHC adjourns review petition of Justice Iftikhar

Islamabad—The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday adjourned review petition moved by former Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chuadhry against cancellation of penalty on Baber Awan advocate.
A bench of justice Noorul Haq N Qureshi adjourned the the hearing of the petitition to date in office due to non availability of Dr. Babar Awan in the court.
It is pertinent to mention here that on May 31, 2015 when a District and Sessions Judge (DSJ) of Islamabad imposed Rs.500 fine on Babar Awan for defying court orders for not submitting reply on a civil miscellaneous application in the defamation case worth Rs.20 billion filed by Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry against Imran Khan.
Later, Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan challenged the imposition of fine on his lawyer and a bench of Islamabad High Court set aside the DSJ court decision.
Former Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry filed a review petition against the order of the IHC regarding cancellation of the fine.
Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has filed a Rs.20 billion defamation suit against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan allegedly that he (Khan) accused the ex-CJP to be involved in rigging the General Elections 2013.—APP
