IGP for preparation of contingency plan for Muharram

Karachi—The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Sindh, A.D. Khawaja, has directed that a contingency plan be prepared for ensuring foolproof security during Muharram.
A police spokesman said here on Sunday that it has been directed that the contingency plan be prepared at police ranges, districts and zones level. He said that the IGP further instructed that the security of Muharram processions and Majalis should also be ensured at every level.
The IGP also asked that the contingency plan should include renewal of licences for the Muharram processions and Majalis, survey of routes of the mourning processions, timings of commencement and conclusion of processions and Majalis, use and availability of the security personnel.
He also directed that a vigilant eye be kept on miscreants.
Prevention of hate material and wall chalking be ensured and Loud Speaker Act be implemented.
‘Amn’ committees be set up at police station level and meetings be held.
The IGP also called for devising a traffic plan so that smooth flow of vehicular traffic be ensured.
