IGP for foolproof strategy to curb crimes more effectivly

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Sindh, A.D. Khawaja, has urged that the police strategy and line of action against crimes be made foolproof, and further effective.
This should be in accordance with the security/policing plan, he stressed. The IGP issued the directives to this effect here on Thursday during the presentation of police report this year till February 28. Report submitted by the Additional Inspector General (Operations) Sindh, Shiraz Nazeer, pointed out that there were a total of 143 police encounters all over the province during the period and as a result 1,861 accused as well as alleged terrorists and dacoits were arrested.
A total of 84 alleged criminals including 24 terrorists, two kidnappers were killed while 38 ‘terrorists’, two kidnapper, 24 killers, nine extortionists and 167 dacoits were reported killed. As many as 787 accused were arrested under against weapons act and 834 accused were nabbed under narcotics act.
The weapons recovered included 39 SMGs/Kalashinkoves, 12 shot- guns/repeaters, 24 rifles, 1,005 pistols/revolvers/mousers and 51 hand grenades and bombs were recovered.
Under the National Action Plan 3,717 illegal immigrants were arrested under 2,080 cases this year till February 28, it was further pointed out in the report. During the period 2,759 illegal immigrants were arrested under 1,647 cases in the three police zones of Karachi under National Action Plan.
