IGP calls for comprehensive plan to regulate city traffic

Karachi—Inspector General of Police (IGP), Sindh, AD Khawaja has called for chalking out a comprehensive plan for regulating the flow of traffic in the metropolis.
He directed the DIG Traffic that in case of traffic jams, the alternative routes be determined and the people be informed about these so as to ensure the smooth flow of vehicles, said a statement.
The IGP stressed that appropriate steps be also taken for deploying the traffic police personnel to guide the flow of traffic. He also called for undertaking survey regarding flow of traffic on the city roads so as to adjust the traffic signals accordingly.
In case of pressure of traffic, alternative routes should also be determined. The IGP said that awareness campaigns should also be initiated to apprise the people fully about the traffic rules.—APP
