Karachi—Following the Supreme Court’s order, the Federal government removed Inspector General Police Sindh Ghulam Hyder Jamali from his post on Saturday and appointed Allah Dino Khawaja as new IG Sindh Police, according to a notification issued by the Establishment Division.
Allah Dino Khawaja commonly known as A.D. Khwaja has been appointed as new Chief of Sindh Police, following Supreme Court observation that Ghulam Haider Jamali should not be allowed to continue as Chief of the province’s police as he is being investigated on charges of embezzlement of funds..
Taking urgent note of apex court’s observation the Sindh government despatched names of 3 police officials to the Prime Minister (PM) Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif for the post of IG of the province. The PM chose A.D. Khwaja as suitable one.
The new police chief A.D. Khwaja hails from district Dadu and was Additional IG in Special Branch of Sindh police.
He in past served as Senior Superintendent of Police in 6 districts in Sindh.
A.D. Khwaja and Sanaullah Abbasi were members of an enquiry committee, which was constituted by the order of the apex court for looking into the charges of embezzlement of investigation funds and bogus recruitment in police department. The investigation team in their report held Jamali responsible for corruption.
The outgoing IG during hearing of the Karachi Lawlessness case at the Karachi registry a couple of days ago told Justice Amir Hani Muslim that he was biased against him and was in close contacts with the investigation team members.
Justice Hani rejected Jamli’s allegation.
A.D. Khwaja is junior to many police officials in ranks and his seniors are many especially ADIG Traffic Khadim Hussain Bhatti, former Karachi Police Chief Ghulam Qadir Thebo.
It is also learned from reliable sources that the names of relieved IG Ghulam Haider Jamali and AIG Finance Fida Hussain Shah and 3 other officials have been put on the exit control list (ECL).
