ICT anti-dengue campaign continues

Islamabad—The district administration of Islamabad is continuing with anti-dengue spray campaign to eradicate mosquito larvae in the rural areas.
Additional District Health Officer and Incharge Dengue Surveillance Cell Dr Najib Durrani told APP that the recent spell of rains in the Federal Capital has stopped.
Now due to clear weather and sunshine the temperature and humidity is increasing in the air which is suitable for growth of dengue mosquito.
During the campaign in rural areas, scrap sites, graveyards, garbage dumps, nullahs, buildings, nurseries, empty homes, ice making factories, hotels, restaurants and other public places are being fumigated to kill mosquito and its larvae.
Anti-mosquito chemicals are being used in the stagnant water in the rural localities.
Dr Najeeb said a public awareness campaign is launched in the current week and the lady health workers are visiting houses to inform people about the dangerous nature of the disease and prevention.
The health officer appealed to the people not to let their children go out of homes especially at morning and evening time.
If kids leave homes then they should apply anti-mosquito repellent, wear full sleeve clothes, cover their legs, keep windows of their homes closed and spray mosquito repellent in rooms twice a week after closing windows and doors.—APP
