ICP wins overall trophy of BISE Peshawar Inter-College Games


Islamia College Peshawar clinched the overall trophy of the Board of Intermediate and Secretary Education Peshawar Inter-College Boys Games which concluded here on Thursday.
Chairman BISE Peshawar Professor Dr. Fazal Rehman was the chief guest on this occasion. Vice President Inter-College Games Committee Professor Attaullah Khan, Principal Govt Higher Secondary School Hazarkhawani, Member Executive and Principal Govt College Badabir Muhammad Sadiq, Vice Principal Syed Tahir Shah, Controller Hamid Ullah Marwat, Principals of various Colleges, Director Sports Manzar Khan, DPEs of various participating colleges, officials, players and large number of spectators were also present.
Speaking on this occasion, Professor Dr. Fazal Rehman lauded the efforts of the players for their active participating in the games in their respective educational institutions. He said they have chalked out a plan to rehabilitate the present infrastructure and should make it to the international standard very soon.
He said a total of 80 kanals of land would be developed into international standard sports facilities for the students of all the affiliated colleges. He said initially a grant of Rs. 200 million has been allocated for the development and rehabilitation of BISE Peshawar sports infrastructures.
Chairman BISE Peshawar Professor Dr. Fazal Rehman assured the students that each and every single penny, the BISE charging from the students in their SSC and Inter examinations, would be utilized on providing the students best playing facilities.
He said sports facilities are open for all and they could utilize during their leisure time in the afternoon. Besides this the BISE would also facilitate them more so that they could continue their active participation in healthy sports activities, he added.
Earlier, Director Sports and former international athlete Manzar Khan presented a detail report of holding 14 male and 11 female Games in different times for the students of all the affiliated colleges with BISE Peshawar. He disclosed that BISE Peshawar is the most active member of the Pakistan Board.
It was in the history that BISE Peshawar won history Pakistan Board Badminton title and remained third in cricket. He said last year BISE Peshawar got first position in squash, basketball, athletics, table tennis and remained second in swimming, badminton and got third position in handball and kabaddi.
Earlier, Chairman BISE Professor Dr. Fazal Rehman gave away overall trophy to Islamia College for winning first positions in athletics, badminton, basketball, football, handball, hockey, volleyball, table tennis, cross country, squash and lawn tennis while Govt College Peshawar recorded first position in Cricket, Tug of War and Kabaddi titles won by Govt College Naguman. GCP won second position in athletics, basketball, football, handball, hockey, volleyball, table tennis, cross country, squash and lawn tennis. GC, Hayatabad got second position in badminton. Edwards College Peshawar took third position in squash, lawn tennis, table tennis, basketball.
National athlete Faris John of GCP Peshawar was declared as best athlete of the Inter-College Games and was awarded 5000 cash prize.—APP
