The Food Control Department of Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) Tuesday imposed fines amounting Rs 125,000 on food outlets for unhygienic food and poor cleanliness conditions.
Talking to APP, Chief Inspector RCB, Waris Bhatti said, the Food Department team on directive of the Cantonment Executive Officer Dr. Saima Shah conducted surprise raids at different food outlets in Dhoke Syedan, Kamalabad and Groti Stop and collected 22 food samples which were sent to lab for quality tests.
He said, the team inspected Malik Banaras Hotel, Hamza Burger, Gilani Hotel, Shaheen Refreshment Center, Sheroz Café, Nirala Samosa Center, Karachi Tikka Center and Hot and Spicy Restaurant and imposed fines amounting Rs 125,000 for unhygienic condition. 14 notices were also issued to the shopkeepers running their business without licenses.
The RCB team also visited several hotels and bakeries and issued notices to the owners, besides ordering them to maintain standard or else strict action would be taken against them.
He said, raids on food outlets would continue, adding that teams were directed to also check the health of workers serving at the food outlets.—APP
