All human have equal rights, respect, born equal: Khalil Tahir


LAHORE : Punjab Minister of Human Rights and Minorities Affairs (HR&MA), Khalil Tahir Sandhu has said that all human have equal rights and respect, as they are born equally. They have conscience and wisdom, so they should promote brotherhood.

In a statement issued on the occasion of International Human Rights Day observed across the globe on Sunday, Khalil Tahir Sandhu said that the person who lives in Pakistan deserves all the freedoms and rights that are significantly important in Islam. He said that Christian communities in Pakistan are 2% of the population of Pakistan and Minorities in Pakistan have full independence as their religions and their basic rights are also entitled to equality of every citizen.

The Minister HR&MA said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government is honored that they have taken historic measures to ensure the protection of minority rights. The Christian prisoners were released for six months in prison for completion of the religious course.

He said that every year, the Punjab government provides a special grant for the religious festivals like Christmas, Holi / Devali and etc. In the government jobs, 5% quota has been allocated for minority, under which more than 5 thousand youth has been given jobs in public institutions. Students belonging to minorities’ community are given special funds every year for scholarships.

The Minister said that the government of Punjab has established a provincial level task force for human Rights to ensure the action plan for human rights implementation.
