Homage paid to Tanveer, probe into his killing demanded

Srinagar—Pro-freedom leaders and organizations have paid rich tributes to Sheikh Tanveer Sultan of Bemina, Srinagar, and demanded impartial probe into his cold blooded murder.
Sheikh Tanveer Sultan was shot dead by Indian police during the search of a passenger bus at Kud on Srinagar-Jammu Highway on Monday.
The All Parties Hurriyet Conference Chairman, Syed Ali Gilani, in a statement issued in Srinagar condemning the killing of the youth demanded an impartial investigation by some independent agency into the incident so that the involved personnel were brought to book. He also called for peaceful demonstrations after Friday prayers, tomorrow, against the killing.
The Chairman of Hurriyet forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, in a statement in Srinagar, termed the killing of Tanveer Sultan as unfortunate.
He said that innocent killings in the occupied territory should be a matter of concern for the international human rights bodies and it was their responsibility to stop such incidents. He also demanded impartial probe into the murder.
The APHC General Secretary, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, in a statement in Srinagar, describing the killing of Tanveer Sultan as another gift of Mehbooba Mufti-led regime to the Kashmir said that Mehbooba must confess that the killings were part of her father’s vision. “The worst part is that to appease her masters in Delhi, the puppet rulers are justifying the innocent killings in every way,” he deplored.
Hurriyet leaders including Farida Behenji, Syed Bashir Andrabi, Shabbir Ahmad Dar, Imtiyaz Ahmad Reshi, Ghulam Nabi War and Muhammad Ahsan Untoo, and delegations of Tehreek-e-Hurriyet, Democratic Freedom Party, Muslim League, JKLF, JKSM, Dukhtaran-e-Millat and other organizations visited Bemina and expressed solidarity with the bereaved family. The Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, Jammu Kashmir National Front and Muslim Deeni Mahaz in theis statements in Srinagar expressed solidarity with the aggrieved family and demanded transparent investigation into the murder.—KMS
