His escape to throw many cases in limbo: Bilawal

Islamabad—Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari Thursday said allowing ‘dictator’ Pervez Musharraf to leave the country is tantamount to shredding the law of the land to pieces.
In a media statement issued here, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said there are a number of cases pending against Pervez Musharraf. “He (Musharraf) is also nominated in the murder case of my mother Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and despite repeated summons he chose not to appear before the court,” he added.
Musharraf’s treason case is also under trial and it is being said that the trial is in its final phase. “Even in this case Musharraf had been reluctant to appear before the court,” he added.
“If Musharraf is allowed to escape from the country, the pending cases will never come to their logical conclusion nor will the legal requirements be fulfilled,” Bilawal Bhutto Zardari warned.
He said the spirit of the law was also torn apart when Pervez Musharraf was acquitted in Akbar Bugti murder case without his appearance before the court and proper investigation.
Bilawal regretted that PPP never got justice from the courts. “Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was awarded the death sentence under a disputed judgment and the divided opinion of the judges,” he said, adding, it is one such case which is never used as a reference by the courts.
