Hindu group prays for Trump’s win in US polls

New Delhi—Around a dozen activists of a right-wing Indian group Hindu Sena performed rituals in New Delhi on Wednesday and prayed for victory of US presidential hopeful Donald Trump. The Hindu Sena activists lit a ritual fire and performed puja on a blanket spread out in a New Delhi protest park. “The whole world is screaming against Islamic terrorism, and even India is not safe from it,” Vishnu Gupta, founder of the Hindu Sena, claimed. They placed several statues depicting Hindu gods including Shiva and Hanuman along with photos of Trump. They urged Indian-origin US citizens to vote for Trump in the forthcoming US elections. Trump’s call for temporary ban on Muslims from entering the United States appears to have earned him some supporters in India.— AP
