Karachi—Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, who flew to Karachi on Sunday following high-profile attacks, attended a security meeting at Corps Headquarters Karachi on Sunday.
According to sources, the security meeting discussed targeted killing of Sufi singer Amjad Sabri and kidnapping of Awais Shah, son of Sindh’s top judge Justice Sajjad Ali Shah.
The meeting also reviewed implementation of National Action Plan and progress of ongoing Karachi operation against the criminal elements.
Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad, Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, National Security Advisor Lt-Gen (retd) Nasser Khan Janjua, Corps Commander Karachi Lt-Gen Naveed Mukhtar and Director General of Inter-Services Intelligence Lt-Gen Rizwan Akhtar were also present in the meeting.
Officers of intelligence agencies were also attended the meeting. Director General of Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) Maj-Gen Bilal Akbar briefed the meeting in detail about Karachi operation and the prevailing security situation in the province.
According to sources, the DG Ranger said that Karachi operation is moving on right direction and that the law enforcement agencies continued to take action against criminals indiscriminately.
