Lahore—Punjab Minister for Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Kh. Salman Rafique presided over 12th Steering Committee meeting of Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute and Research Center (PKLI) here on Wednesday to discuss and monitor the developments of the project.
The meeting also reviewed the arrangements for launching Hepatitis Prevention and Treatment Clinic (HPTC) at the end of this year. President PKLI Trust Dr. Saeed Akhter was also present along with all the members of the steering committee.
While emphasizing on the importance of a project as big and vital as PKLI, Khawaja Salman Rafique reiterated that close coordination of PKLI with various government departments was of utmost importance and must be carried out on regular basis. He said that the timing and deadline of the project, especially HPTC, were challenging that would be met only if all concerned departments work together.
Representatives from various government departments including Health, Finance, XEN PHED, SNGPL, LTC, LESCO, Commissioner Lahore and IDAP were also present to discuss the issues related to construction of PKLI hospital complex building and HPTC clinic. Other issues like procurement progress of medical equipment, provision of water, electricity, gas, etc. for PKLI & RC were also deliberated upon.
