Health activist wants awareness about AIDS

Hyderabad—The health activist underlined need of creating mass awareness about HIV/AIDS so that the adults could be aware of causes of the deadly disease and adopt precautionary measures in order to save their lives as well as future generation.
Efforts with serious concern were required to control HIV/AIDS in Pakistan, which was rising gradually as a result, lack of awareness about the causes that transmit the virus in the human body, Executive Director Sindh Health Development Society (SHED) and Coordinator District Task Force on HIV/AIDS Hyderabad, Dr. Zahid Sadder emphasized while talking to APP here on Thursday in connection with World AIDS Day.
World AIDS Day, marked on December 1 every year since 1988, was dedicated to creating awareness of the disease. Dr. Zahid Sadder emphasized the need of focusing attention on protecting children and adults from HIV/Aids and ensure care and support for those who were affected by the disease.
He said that in addition to providing regular medical facilities to the people, the Sindh government has decided to prepare a plan of action against HIV/AIDs and to implement it with the collaboration of organizations, NGOs and the community participation.
He informed that the strategy would be to control over behavioral risk factors responsible for spread of HIV/AIDs in the society and to monitor HIV prevalence through detective methods and organizational performance so that this menace could be combated with scientific methods.—APP
