HC quashes PSA detention of two

Srinagar—The High Court in occupied Kashmir has quashed detention order of APHC leader, Abdul Ghani Butt and a teenager, Umer Ali Sheikh, who were booked under draconian law, Public Safety Act (PSA).
APHC leader, Abdul Ghani Butt, a businessman of Baramulla, was booked under PSA last year. Earlier, PSA was slapped on him in 2011. A bench of Justice Muhammad Yaqoob Mir, after perusal of the records, observed that the authorities had not revealed the facts and circumstances which persuaded the Deputy Commissioner of Baramulla to pass the detention order under PSA.Umer Ali Sheikh, who hails from Harnag, Islamabad, was booked under PSA in 2015. A bench of Justice Muzaffar Hussain Attar quashed the PSA detention against him. “Respondents are directed to forthwith release Umar Ali Sheikh a resident of Khandi Pahari Harnag, Islamabad, from preventive custody,” the court said.
