Havelian-Khunjrab rail link under consideration

Parliamentary Secretary for Climate Change Raja Muhammad Javed Ikhlas on Friday told the National Assembly that proposal is under consideration for connecting Havelian with Khunjrab (682 Km), Pak-China rail link under China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
The Feasibility Study regarding proposed Rail Link is part of Railway PSDP 2017-18, he said while replying to a question in the National Assembly during question hour.
He said that in order to maximize the international trade potential between China Pakistan and beyond, it is considered imperative to provide access to the Arabian Sea.
Accordingly the long term vision envisages connectivity of proposed Havelian – Khunjrab rail link with Gwadar through ML-2 and onwards from Jacobabad to Khuzdar, Besima, Panjgur, Hoshab, and Turbat under CPEC, he added.
Meanwhile, Parliamentary Secretary for Cabinet Secretariat Raja Muhammad Javed Ikhlas Friday informed the National Assembly that the government is strictly implementing laws for safety and freedom of wild life.
During the Question-hour, he said, the provincial, AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan governments are also implementing the laws strictly.
He said, that the government had taken various steps under the Sustainable Development Goals to achieve climate change targets.
He said that the government has ratified the Paris Agreement on climate change in November, 2016.
In February 2016, he said, Pakistan Climate Change Bill has been passed unanimously by both Houses of the Parliament.
He said, the National Forest Policy has been approved by the Council of Common Interests (CCI).—APP
