ISLAMABAD – Pakistan is set to start Hajj flights to Saudi Arabia from May 9 as the national flag carrier used to conduct all-out flight operations annually to facilitate a rising number of people who travel to perform the pilgrimage.
This year, Hajj flights in the country will start in the second week of May and continue till next month, as thousands from Asian nation will travel to holy site to perform pilgrimage.
Kingdom reinstated Pakistan’s Hajj quota and removed the age limit. The results of a draw for Hajj 2024 were announced in December 2023, with more than 63,000 applicants selected for the pilgrimage under the state-run scheme.
For this year, Saudi Hajj and Umrah ministry made smartphones mandatory for all pilgrims, with mobile phone applications being utilized during the holy journey.
A mobile application was launched to aid Hajj pilgrims, providing guidance from their Hajj flight to their stay in Saudi Arabia, along with other relevant details including training videos. Each pilgrim will receive a free mobile SIM from a Saudi company with 180 minutes for international calls.
Second phase of Hajj training to start after Eid
Hajis are set to embark on the holy journey and second phase of Hajj training, led by 40 trainers, will begin on April 15 at 122 locations across the country, to apprise pilgrims about new initiatives and Hajj-related matters.
Mandatory vaccination for pilgrims will start 10 days before Hajj flights, and they will be provided with a suitcase, hand carry bag, shoe bag, Ihram belt, and a green scarf with the Pakistani flag.
Hajj 2024 Dates
Hajj in 2024 is expected to take place from June 14th to June 19th. These dates are subject to change based on the sighting of the moon, which determines the exact start of the Islamic month of Dhu al-Hijjah, during which Hajj occurs. It’s always a good idea to verify these dates closer to the time of the pilgrimage.
